Today we have a new half-way "smart" electricity meters.
This is a counter that allows to read the current fuel consumption directly. But you can not manually switch between the modes "instantaneous consumption" and "Total kWh" - annoying little ...
It is fortunately not equipped with interfaces for remote control by N-Ergie.
could theoretically change the current so we now offer ...

Birthday Clip Art16th Birthday
Heute nachmittag again we had time with the kids from NEST, which are, moreover, between 3 months and 17 years old, how should I correct here. At the end of the afternoon it was against her expectations, but a small farewell party for and with us. We had recently backpacks, orange, papaya and pineapple (which is the majority?) Bought, carved into pieces and dished and came back as the children of their playground time outside of the site, waiting for her, finally, a somewhat more extensive "snack", a small adoption, to lots of good wishes for us and as many farewell songs. It was sweet!
the morning we had to Seven thing ropes used and on the floor beneath our seats, therefore, be adventurous some sleep tied packets, which carry our or Susie's name that we gave away the embarrassing baggage volume difference (allowed up to 40 kg per person) reduced positive. Now we have to get the stuff just kind of balanced to Munich ...
for a final summary of our trip is here certainly too early, but are behind us now three beautiful weeks with some high points and low points, the here were named for the most part.
Thank you for all sympathy, all feedback, comments, Messages, SMS and other vital signs, which are of different people and sometimes ended up surprising me. Many thanks to all those who this safari store (s) have made and supported and who have supported my path in several ways. Nice if I you in this way a bit on mine, could take on our trip. Even better, if we meet again soon somewhere live and in color. Browse tell a few cubic feet of souvenirs, some previously unpublished stories, or just nice to be together ... that would be something.
If all goes well marked, about here 22.45 clock time a taxi driver named Peter on, who will then bring about 1-hour route to Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta Airport. From there we will fly to the amusing little time, namely 2:50 clock time with Turkish Airlines with 608 Flugnumme RTK throughout the night and tomorrow afternoon for Istanbul to Munich. If I'm writing ... not everything has gone well, ok?

page is now heated ...
is in the basement now a floor heater that controls the floor for several days to bring the maximum working temperature and then cooled again.
Let's see how much electricity we need for this ...
Update: Unbelievable ... 250 kWh per day, within 10 days, we come here on our last year's current annual consumption.
The basic rate of N-Ergie currently costs about 25ct per kWh ...
With a

are Finally we arrived back so far in Susi's nice domicile of each shot and road traffic and a bit damp and cold in the middle-lousy Cold. However, I am happy after our long journey to finally be here, because as before is my cute little infection have still not come across. I make today another day of blue on Susi's sofa, while Samuel and Susie again towards Nairobi travel.
I last wrote from the roof terrace of the backpacker hotels in Arusha, where you not only a wonderful view of Mount Meru (see the fifth-highest mountain in Africa) could enjoy, but also to the constantly mutating transport hub just outside the front door, hear the latter more-than-visible. You probably need a moment to recognize from the image on the right, now is whether left or right movement in Arusha. The question whether to give the hundreds of Dalla Dalla-drivers a clear answer to this question wöllten.
Well, my power of being old Arusha-day was, in essence, to organize for both of us bus tickets and that still herunterzuhandeln by a whopping $ 4, so we now unfortunately still a lot of Tanzanian shillings spare. In any case, was included in the service pick up from the hotel, which was very gratifying, especially since I was already a bit by the wind.
After a nice morning breakfast on the previously described roof terrace, which for me out of chamomile tea, chamomile tea und Kamillentee bestand, begaben wir uns zu vereinbartem Zeitpunkt ins Foyer unserer Unterkunft.
Said and done, the luggage strapped to the roof and us in the remaining booths crushed: On we went to Nairobi!
the beginning of the trip, I still thought the initial moguls ought to lead us at some point on the highway to Nairobi, but rather the opposite was the case. Gradually, I realized that we were constantly in the middle at a construction site. Apparently, both Kenyans and Tanzanian leaders were aware that those links between Arusha and Nairobi was probably quite important, so that these must be removed. Unfortunate result of that consideration: about 400 km lange Strecke wurde auf ganzer Länge gleichzeitig gesperrt und saniert!
Von einem Moment auf den Second, we found ourselves in a dust-dry desert again, where you should keep all life in times of drought These kinds of impossible.
Still shuffling at longer intervals individual groups of striking red-blue-plaid-clad Maasai across this desolate and yet somehow fascinating desert dust, usually a small herd of cows are driven before.
All in all, this bus ride was still a significant imposition. If one keeps in mind that this track is just as much as the already described Mombasa, Dar-es-Salaam route to the north-south axis and east Africa, the quality of the road itself für gut trainierte Achterbahnfahrer haaresträubend.
Phew, what had been for a tour!
I was really all. As a small downside, we made ourselves a taxi to Limuru, which is about three quarters of an hour's drive outside of Nairobi. After all, the small but normal marathon negotiations with the taxi driver I had accomplished, so we finally for 1700 Kenyan Shillings, just under 17 euros landed back here at the nest.
Our first route took us instantly into the "Children's Home" where we ran a large group of children also coincide with high-speed, no brakes in the stomach. Well at least that pain could laugh at himself: o) It was nice to be back. The kids know our names yet (a few of the kids I did too) and we were once again very warm welcome.
do today, as I said, I pause and an appropriate antibiotic called ciprofloxacin hydrochloride from Susi distributes's medicine chest to my stomach Carnival slowly but surely: Fortunately, Susie's family doctor in matters of preventive equipment with antibiotics more generous than mine.
So we stay now a good two days here in the nest. Tomorrow I'll probably mix with the crowd and again on Saturday ... so we'll see probably the best on Saturday.
Sun greets from Limuru a second time to thank your Philip, together with the absence shiny Samuel

What Color To Paint My House If Im Trying To Sell
On Sunday departure was announced in Moshi. After Godi farewell to Clive and Bodil for an indefinite period. How long? Maybe 2 years? Or 5? Who knows ...
went to a nice lunch in Moshi indoitalianischen's for us to continue and Kin'gori Leguruki and once again we have the Tanzanian Kondaktas deducted. Well, how was I supposed to know, what does the bus for the ordinary citizens? For us, at any rate 2000 instead of the usual 1000th They should I sometimes come to Germany!
were very much faster than we expected at the junction to "Leguruki Educational Training Center" or whatever, the compound may be called straight. Ratzefatze we went even further with a small bus to the north, I barely had time to shoot pictures. The traffic in this originally very remote region in recent years has become much denser, the buses are much larger, but also the potholes. The open pickups, with which you were riding often before the age of 7, are open-bar disappeared, now there are only high-tech buses, hoho.
Well, we arrived at the school center in flux, so that Anja, where we could come under the following 2 nights, not even back from a trip was their farewell visit. (In less than a week now and we will remove the sails and the melancholy escalates slowly becoming high.)
Her friend Alex and his friendly chatterbox daughter Vanessa were just visiting, so we just for 2 days to five the Volunteershaus populated and consistent on time this morning, the drinking water supply was running low. Until at least noon tomorrow is so fashionable dry shower, which saves expensive to washing towels ...
Well, somehow everything is as usual. Nevertheless, a few changes: A lot of new houses are built been, the workshops are partially moved, was from canteen, joinery, a children's garden and the corn mill in between a "Business Site", which is ominous for reasons of close to bankruptcy. The school has a legacy of Wazungus now 3 cars instead of one and the sponsored ages ago IVECO trucks now only a more or less brightly painted scrap heap.
was really sweet that I discovered in the nursery school a few kiddies who presented me proud of her blue backpacks, to read where "church district Bautzen" was. A small project facilities to the students with school supplies, which ich im letzten Advent mit einigen Rucksäcken, gefüllt von Gemeindegliedern in Schönfels und Altenburg unterstützen konnte.
One could say: there was probably after I left a multi-year high, according to a new structure one of me only in color set "Master Plan" which was to dream little left, worked with decisive leadership, pale-faced organization professionals to some extent.
But now, after they leave it running, as it always went. The money, if there are moves for which, in dubious black holes, private pockets or foolish investments and the management seems at times almost nothing. One can only shake his head.
I must admit, on issues the so-called "Sustainability" I stopped quickly to make my illusions. For me it was helpful to know that this or that project went well or better as long as I was just there. If the locals take back their own style and then drive the truck in the sand (but then what is not always the case), I can only say: Pole sana, then you have the most wanted. It is sad, miserable, but apparently not willed otherwise.
had a similar experience seems all my successor: It is often difficult to motivate people to something new, to implement any tiny idea unspeakably takes a long time and often loses nerve and courage, sometimes both. One can think at this point basically equal to about These kinds of "development aid", but this is probably again a different story.
Well, anyway. On our first evening we arrived, shook me quite a chill and a little fever. Somehow, somewhere I had me a stomach-intestinal infections have been captured, as it turned out later. First, I studied in Anya's library or malaria, and other chart and already feared to have to give my next blog entry a different title. So it was (fortunately?) In bad stomachache and sleep without end, which is now due to the stringent diet a bit besser geworden ist.
Damals war irgendwie nie was draus geworden. Oder ich war zu schüchtern. Oder was weiß ich.
Jedenfalls ist Yotam inzwischen proud owner of a not very small motorcycle, with which it myself, a quick fuel stop (see picture), including, in the hinterland kidnapped. He showed me his first actual construction site, a small house in which he would soon set up a small business and his own workshop. Then he chauffeured me to his house, received in the us his wife and two of his children. As a result of my belly-chaos, I could turn away a great dinner (which was probably a relief for both sides) and my gut feeling this time was more than just an excuse.
It was only a cup of hot tea with sluggish for my stomach too much milk and as I drank it too fast, hey presto, a second. But everything was wonderful and it was good to talk to him about current events, the events at the school and some others. Yotam described to me his point of view that reflects comparatively and objectively worked. I guess if he is so smart, he will work well not for long at the school.
We'll meet again - tutaonana. When and where, remains open for now.
tumbled in the afternoon we still on the weekly market in Kingori - always an experience. A few small souvenirs, flip flops for the folks back home and some food shops were this time all our shopping list.
Today Tomorrow's went for us on to Arusha, where we now take care of bus tickets need to tomorrow as early as possible to find the way back to Nairobi and Limuru.
Anja had for the better this morning a meeting in Arusha, so that they could sell us on the doorstep of the backpacker hostels in Arusha. It is also easy to find Backpackers!
Now I'm sitting up here on the terrace, pretty European style, and trying to eliminate the droning and honking to hide the screaming and squealing of road noise. Tanzanian seem to use the horn more often than the turn signal ...

Is Lewis Body Disease Herediatry
Ein ganzes Jahr lang hatte ich während meines einjährigen Praktikums in TZ davon geträumt, here to get somewhere a halfway decent bike here and never really know what came of it. The mobile sauschwer and as heavy Chinese bicycles are hard to recommend, although this rarely sees something different.
The brakes are more screwed turn pro forma (if it was just screws) and despite the lack of gears, there is idle rather than resign. Well, and everything else was too expensive for me.
But today, finally it worked out. On my immediate question of a bicycle Clive's wife Bodil answered first, sorry, there were none. Although they had once had one, but now it is broken and no longer works.
I have therefore considered the alleged scrap heap and found that the rust Hirsch Danish origin was in almost perfect condition. A few screws and tighten air was inflated basically the whole Reparaturakt. Suuuupa!
So I am now gegast or cycle back and forth through Moshi and thus have my range quite a bit extended.
But again a short flashback:
After more than 9 hours in the bus without air, we arrived safely yesterday evening in Moshi, past mountain chains and volcanoes, endless agave fields and across desert landscapes of different species.
in Moshi itself to neither the first nor really change at a second glance much. A few shops have become larger and are a bit moved, and a whole lot of roads are not "rough roads", but thanks to America's aid program (there are in the area natural gas) mutated to asphalt roads, but in essence is all inclusive The menu at the pub Alberto, remained the same. And it is soo beautiful!
I just love this city. Let
As the rainy season is far from over, shoot the flora and fauna only as to himself and everything is knallegrün. Just outside of downtown, there are super nice acacia avenues and forests without end, endless scrub and simply beautiful landscapes.
Clive, who lives here with his wife Bodil just north of the city center, since a few years ago a beautiful house for rent with huge grounds and because his wife has quite horticultural talent is here in just 4 years of a botanical paradise created, which can be seen. For Samuel and me there is a pretty Guest rooms include bath and shower, so that we here at least as well off as in all other places where we were until now a guest.
A m first night in Moshi we were eating together in the "Salzburg Café," which is actually more of a steak house, where a few German and Austrian Souvenirs more or less accommodated unspectacular are. In that location are almost exactly seven years ago, my parents along with Clive and fed me and there was a photo that to this day to Clive's and my Wall hanging. We had to make another image and perhaps it is soon find the old one.
hours are Sami and I plan halfway-and stress-free getingelt through the city, exploring the market, various artist's shops and visited the old railway station of Moshi. Unfortunately there for a few years absolutely nothing going on, although the route Moshi-Dar es Salaam has ranked among the finest in the country. When I was the last time on that station, it was after all still a little freight, but the last 3 years, who had come to a standstill and a couple of empty freight cars are boring and rusting in front of him around in the area.
now is the whole business shifted from passenger transport to freight traffic on the road and gases every day hundreds of buses and trucks in mostly at breakneck speed between Arusha and Dar es Salaam to and fro. Apparently the Tanzanian like this more than the thrill Geschunkel by rail.
By late afternoon the clouds quite unexpectedly released the summit of Kilimanjaro, so we did not have to think longer, that somewhere behind those clouds, many of the "Uhuru Peak, the summit of Kibo should be.
Well.
For now, Samuel has a trip desired by the Arusha National Park, which is in itself a very nice idea. Since I have visited this park several times and the route by using an ordinary safari company is not cheap, I did not however, and use the time now while Sami's Safari Trip as already described for Rumtingeln, shopping, Rumkucken and relax.
I just sit on Ashton Sofa leave me the sun shine on your feet, sip a non-Instant Coffee and think it's just schön, hier sein zu können.
Euer Philipp

"Glory to god" - The front is on the front window of the bus, with which we are driving. Well possible that the operators have this saying only glued on, after they were allowed to determine that the front wheel after a little more comprehensible crash just not shattered into a thousand small pieces, but since then only two-digit number by a is crossed by leaps.
For the local authorities and vehicle checks the boot size of the bus driver apparently a similarly important criterion as the functionality of the brakes (which here eh be used only rarely), the integrity of the windshield or even luxury equipment such as tire treads, etc. A detailed
TÜV report would probably all parties to the action unnecessarily worry ...
jo, we are back on the slopes, and this time the trail leads back to the north. Past wonderful rock formations and most recently on Kilimanjaro (unfortunately hardly be expected of sight), we now drive to Moshi, where we will stay with a friend of mine privately. At least 8 hours, maybe longer, the bus will be our home, and after the bus driver with his oversized soap box now already a good 20 minutes through the chaos of the bus stops Ubungo / Dar It has jostle Salaam, should it actually start soon. We have pretty good seats, the very front, just behind the supposed engine cover, and even though my legs 2 feet long, I could stretch well. However, it will be sweaty, even now in the morning, the thermometer shows 28 degrees even on cloudy days and I would remind you that this is the Tanzanian winter. Well, it goes on the road. A wonderful day to you all. Tutasikilizana baadaye kidogo.

Groping Train -bus Free
O Wunder was.
Well, actually we had before, again in the morning to jump into the sea flux, because just like that wonderful turquoise blue (at least in our memory from the previous day) was fabulous and we are so keen on it were. Well. No sooner said than planned, we were there, but the sea was gone. At least a hundred meters. Low tide is called, and the same was basically predictable than anything else in this country, just as we had not just thought of it.
So we shuffled so a little while aimlessly through geebbte area filled with coral and strange rock formations until a little later 2-3 Kenyans casually crossed our path and tracking for both of us more and more strange aquatic creatures, and thus a detailed ebb Sea Tour developed that eventually down to a reef led. to my not direct positive surprise, we discovered quite close to the point where we had rumgeplanscht the previous day fun, an incredible collection of (no exaggeration) thousands of sea urchins, with (by) which I in 7 years ago Indian Ocean at Zanzibar Acquaintance had made. No fewer than 40 spines in my right foot had at that time a minimum of 3 months ongoing memory is kept alive.
The two "guides" who even had a whole repertoire of German erkleckliches led us safely through the seas and sea urchins along the stone fish, starfish and squid, almost like a petting zoo. Fabulous! And like most everything - totally unplanned.
Well. In the end, was to be expected, a non-scarce negotiation phase at the cost of this little tour. For free but then there's almost nothing here. (Quote of the Kenyan "Ohne Moos nix los!" is The rule of thumb, it seems to me that it is possible to negotiate the first-mentioned price to an average of about one-fifth, so that from left in this case 2500KSh another 500 remained. Ca. 5 euros.
was really funny that another Kenyan came up right after me, and asked me if I could exchange it for a 2 euro coin, because you can not get rid of this fact.
I'm ok, so what, and Samuel went off to 700KSh to get out of our neighborhood. We paid the Guidi € 500 and the 200th Finder Right after that came another Wakenia and offered for sale really pretty shells. And what can I say: For a 2-euro coin, he sold me an impressive part: o) How's all in the family.
Our path led us back after lunch to Mombasa, for Samuel was like a little stroll through the city anyway and we needed a bus ticket to Dar the next morning.
arrived in Mombasa, we were looking first at our recommended accommodation, which turned out to be a unique scavenger hunt. The "Mombasa Backpackers" is really nice, but in many ways a secret, because even if someone stands directly in front, there is no indication that it is a long time there. Mehrmals endete unsere Fahrt demnach in Sackgassen.
Adjust the heat and a bit of a hurry: I was fed and quite properly hmerzen Kopfsc. Well, it helped
nothing, we finally found both the desired Busstand and the famous "Tusk," the elephant teeth, resembling an both on the ivory trade and the visit of Britain's Princess 1956th
Whatever. The next day we went even further to Dar. The beginning of the trip is described briefly. To say more would be that the below-described Holperstraße deserves a little lullaby would specially dedicated in contrast to the information we are after would have the border (visa good chat = +50 € per nose) is expected. A blog entry would be there with no keyboard in the world have been possible, because if the potholes and the non-measurable speed of the vehicle in the bus all hopped up and down.
ran the trip, with a short stop in Tanga, as planned, though we arrived about 17:30 clock later than I would have thought. Now we live here in the Luther House, not exceptional, but solid and today had a little Ausspanntag to visit the fish market (perceived about 1000 liters of oil bubbling to 100 square feet) and relax and catch fire at the sun Kipepeo Beach.
On the latter, we conducted several marathon negotiations with the Beach Boys show up constantly, which offered us anything. I guess I'm not a very easy customer for the poor Tanzanian, but our pack was in the end quite well filled with Shukas, Kangas, Tinga Tinga and letter cards. Until then, the boys but insulted several times whether my proposal price deducted nöhlend, a little later and some aufzukreuzen repeatedly. But I'm so not first ask if anyone wants to sell me something ...
for now enough today. We sit for another tour of the city, including grilled on bicycle spokes Fleischspießchen (which ever meat?) In a hotel room or drinking beer, because alcohol is not allowed apparently. However, there are even those in the restaurant of the Protestant house chilled Hopfenblütentee. There, however, it is served with bread nicely packaged bottles. (A story similar to ravioli).
morning we stay so still here, check across the city and gaze even know what to expect. On Thursday's scheduled to go on to Moshi, a day trip again, this time along the Pare Mountains. From the foot of Kilimanjaro I can probably give back what the best.
So far so good, it Greet you warmly Philip and Samuel. Mungu awabariki!
